Q: How long is your school day? Can arrangements be made to pick up my child(ren) at 5:00pm or 5:30pm?
A: The school day begins at 8:30 am and ends at 2:30pm. We offer a before school program beginning at 6:45am and an after school program ending at 5:30pm.
Q: Where is your school located?
A: St. Margaret’s School is located conveniently off I-81 exit 26. Follow Route 11 south for 0.7 miles, our Parish and school community is on the right. Our street address is 201 Roxboro Rd, Mattydale, NY 13211.
Q: Our family is not Catholic or even Christian. Will this be confusing to our child?
A: As in most Catholic schools, the majority of students are Catholic but not all. Our daily religion lessons are lead by our very skilled teaching staff. The staff designs an engaging and age-appropriate experience that includes stories from the Bible, prayers, and songs.
Q: How can I prepare my child for the screening/assessment?
A: No preparation is required except for a good night’s sleep. The screening helps us to learn about your child’s developmental strengths and needs so that we can be sure that our school setting will be the best one for her/him. This screening is not an IQ test. It provides a way for the teachers to observe how your child approaches physical, social, and thinking tasks.
Q: Our child is very active and likes a lot of physical play. Can you meet his/her needs?
A: The teachers carefully observe each child’s needs and adjust the environment and the pacing of the lessons accordingly. The children go outside when weather permits and we also have a large gym for physical education classes and recess.
Q: We’d like to talk to some parents whose children are now enrolled at St. Margaret’s School. Is that possible?
A: Yes, we can arrange that. Our parents are very helpful and eager to tell you about their own child’s experience.
Q: Will we have a chance to tour the school and see classes in session before making a commitment?
A: Yes! We are happy to schedule appointments throughout the year. Visitors are limited to one family at a time so that the daily teaching routine is not affected. Call the school office to make an appointment 315-455-5791.
